After graduating in Mass communication, she worked as a journalist in Sri Lanka, whilst also modelling. She made her acting debut in 2009 with Aladin, and was awarded the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female and the Stardust Award for Best Exciting Face. Fernandez gained recognition with a role in the erotic thriller Murder 2 (2011), which emerged as her first commercial success. Thereafter, she appeared in successful films like Housefull 2 (2012) and Race 2 (2013). Alongside her acting career, Fernandez is a social activist, participates in stage shows, is a celebrity endorser for brands.
Fernandez was born on 11 August 1985, into a mixed ethnic family, in which her father is a Sri Lankan of Indian descent and her mother is of Canadian and Malaysian ancestry. Although, she was born and raised in Bahrain, she said she originally belong to Sri Lanka. Prior to become a TV reporter, she started hosting TV shows in Bahrain, when she was barely fourteen year old. After graduated in Mass Communication from Australia, she moved to Sri Lanka, where she relocated at her grandparent place, and joined a Television station . From then, she began reporting and investigating mainly on political turmoil. According to an article published in Lanka Journal, she had aspired to become an actress, when she was only eight year old. Although, she was a TV reporter, she accepted offers to join the modeling industry, which came as a result of her pageant entrance and for which she was crowned the Miss Sri Lanka Universe 2006, and represented her state at Miss Universe 2006 held in Los Angeles where she was unplaced. In 2007, Fernandez appeared on her first commercial in a Music video of Sri Lankan singing sensation Bathiya and Santhush, for which she got recognition. From there, she began receiving offers to go to India for more modelling assignments.
Fernandez made her acting debut in the 2009 Bollywood fantasy movie Aladin opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. She played a character inspired by the Disney Princess character of Jasmine. For her performance, Fernandez received mixed reviews, with Anupama Chopra of NDTV calling her a "plastic debutant".However, Taran Adarsh of BollywoodHungama complimented her more on her looks, rather than her performance by saying, "Jacqueline Fernandez gets no scope, but she looks gorgeous nonetheless. In year 2010, she was seen once again appearing alongside Ritesh Deshmukh in the romantic comedy Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. She received mainly negative reviews for her performance. Rediff criticized her by writing," She gamely makes a fool of herself whilst aping the actions of movie stars, ranging from Sridevi's Naagin dance, Mithun Chakravarthy's Disco Dancer moves to Big B's violent headshake in Hum. Her Tara could be a keeper if only Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai wasn't so intent on turning her into a love-struck Barbie. That year, she made a cameo appearance in Sajid Khan's Housefull in the song 'Dhanno' which was a big success, and giving her positive recognition.
In 2011, Fernandez appeared in her third film, Mahesh Bhatt's thriller Murder 2 which went on to become a huge blockbuster. Fernandez played the role of Priya, a lonely model who is in a confused relationship with Arjun Bhagwat, played by Emraan Hashmi. Fernandez grabbed a lot of attention for the boldness and sex appeal she displayed in the movie, with her performance receiving decent reviews. OneIndia Entertainment said, "Jacqueline being bold and sexy grabs a lot of eyeballs for the oomph factor. Her performance is decent." Taran Adarsh of BollywoodHungama said, "Stepping into Mallika's shoes in the sequel is Jacqueline. Like Mallika, she takes the boldness quotient to the next level with her sexy avatar. She should grab a lot of eyeballs for the oomph factor, while her performance is decent. In fact, she gets little scope to display histrionics, but she makes a sincere attempt to portray her character with care." Murder 2 launched Fernandez's career for the good, as she started getting offers from big production houses. Post Murder 2 success, Fernandez turned down many roles, such as Raaz 3, to avoid being type cast as a sex symbol. She was also considered for Bindu's iconic 'Mona Darling' act in the remake of Zanjeer but she walked out from the project for the same reasons. She also turned down a role in Krrish 3, but that was due to date conflicts.

In 2012, Fernandez appeared in Housefull 2 with an ensemble cast which included Akshay Kumar, Asin and Rishi Kapoor. It became one of the top grossing productions of India that year and grossed INR186 crore (US$30 million) worldwide. Also, Fernandez received positive reviews for her performance. Gaurav Malani of Times Of India stated, "So Jacqueline Fernandez wins the race with her gorgeous looks..." Mrigank Dhaniwala of KoiMoi said, "Of all the girls, Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez get the meatiest of roles and they do not disappoint." Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave a mixed review by saying, "Amongst the female leads, Asin has the meatiest role and gives a decent account of herself. Jacqueline, Shazahn and Zarine act more as eye candy. They are the typical sultry and enticing selves; each one is befitting in her own space."
Fernandez's first release of 2013 was Race 2 alongside Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Ameesha Patel and John Abraham. She described her character as the "most negative character" she has played. Although the film was described as the "cinematic equivalent of a trashy novel" by most critics, she received mostly positive reviews for her performance. Lisa Tsering, of The Hollywood Reporter stated, "Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez, a leggy beauty with a talent for action who now counts seven Indian films under her belt, is another plus. Welcome to Bollywood, Miss Fernandez". Joginder Tuteja of Indicine mentioned, "Jacqueline has a bigger part to play and she does it well while looking her best." Komal Nahta commented, "Jacqueline Fernandez is also sexy and stylish."Indiaglitz stated, "Deepika Padukone looks delicious and does a fabulous job so is Jacqueline Fernandez who shows improvement as an actor."Despite this, the film opened to a high positive response at the box office, and emerged as a major financial success, collecting INR162 crore (US$26 million) worldwide.

Hot Hollywood Actresses Biography

(Source google.com)
Uma Karuna Thurman, daughter of Robert Thurman and Nena Thurman, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 29, 1970. Uma grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, where her father worked at Amherst College. She left boarding school at just 15, already determined to become an actress. She moved to New York to follow her dream.
A breakthrough role for the tall, blonde actress came when she played Cecile de Volanges in Dangerous Liaisons (1988). More attention came with the NC-17 rated Henry & June (1990), but it was Thurman's role in the Quentin Tarantino classic Pulp Fiction (1994) that earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Donning a short black wig to play femme fatale Mia Wallace opposite John Travolta's hit man Vincent Vega, Thurman earned a place in film history.
After roles in The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996) and the Ted Demme film Beautiful Girls (1996), Thurman met her future husband Ethan Hawke on the set of Gattaca (1997).
Thurman returned to smaller films after playing the villainess Poison Ivy in the reviled Joel Schumacher effort Batman & Robin (1997) and Emma Peel in a remake of The Avengers (1998). She worked with Woody Allen and Sean Penn on Sweet and Lowdown (1999), and starred in Richard Linklater's drama Tape (2001) opposite Hawke. Thurman also won a Golden Globe award for her turn in the made-for-television film Hysterical Blindness (2002) (TV), directed by Mira Nair.
A return to the mainstream spotlight came when Thurman redeemed with Quentin Tarantino for Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), a revenge flick the two had dreamed up on the set of Pulp Fiction (1994). She also turned up in the John Woo cautioner Paycheck (2003) that same year. The renewed attention was not altogether welcome because Thurman was dealing with the break-up of her marriage with Hawke at about this time. Thurman handled the situation with grace, however, and took her surging popularity in stride. She garnered critical acclaim for her work in Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) and was hailed as Tarantino's muse. Thurman reunited with Pulp Fiction (1994) dance partner John Travolta for the Get Shorty (1995) sequel Be Cool (2005) and played Ulla in The Producers (2005).
Uma Thurman was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970 into a highly unorthodox and Eurocentric family -- her mother is a European socialite and former model, her father one of the nation's foremost Buddhist scholars. As a result, hers was a household in which the The Dalai Lama was an occasional guest; she and her siblings all have names deriving from Buddhist mythology; and Middle American behavior was little understood, much less pursued.

Nanda (born 8 January 1939) is an Indian film actress of Hindi films and Marathi films.Nanda was born in a Maharashtrian show-business family to Vinayak Damodar Karnataki (Master Vinayak), a successful Marathi actor-director .Her father died when Nanda was a child. The family faced hard times. She became a child artiste and helped them by working in films like Jaggu in the early 1950s. She was tutored at home by renowned schoolteacher and Bombay Scouts commissioner, Gokuldas V. Makhi. Her brother is Marathi film director Jaiprakash Karnataki and Jayashree Talpade is her sister-in-law.Nanda's paternal uncle V. Shantaram gave Nanda a big break by casting her in a successful brother-sister saga Toofan Aur Diya (1956). She received her first Filmfare Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress for Bhabhi (1957); she claims that the reason she didn't win was because there was lobbying involved. She then played supporting roles like sister to stars like Dev Anand in Kala Bazar, and did small roles in big films like Dhool Ka Phool.
She played the title role in L.V. Prasad's Chhoti Bahen (1959). The movie was a big hit, making her a star.[4] She then played lead roles, such as one of Dev Anand’s heroines in Hum Dono (1961) and Teen Deviyan. Both films were acclaimed as 'hits'. She was the heroine in B R Chopra's Kanoon (1960), a film that was very unusual back then, because it had no songs. She won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Anchal (1960).
Nanda was known to encourage newcomers. She starred with Shashi Kapoor in 8 while he was a newcomer, but their first 2 films as a pair - the critically acclaimed romantic film Char Diwari(1961) and Mehndi Lagi Mere Haath (1962) did not work but the rest were successful at the box office. She signed 8 films with Shashi Kapoor at a time when he was yet to successful in Hindi Cinema. Shashi, who though had achieved success in English films in 1963 and in 2 hero Hindi films in 1965, had 5 flops as solo lead hero from his debut in 1961 till 1965 in Hindi films. In Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965), Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image. Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." (Shashi Kapoor would later declare that Nanda was his favorite heroine. Nanda, too, declared Kapoor as her favourite hero.) In the 60’s the pair of Shashi-Nanda had string of 5 box office romantic hit films like Mohabbat Isko Kahete Hain (1965), Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965), Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare (1966), Raja Saab(1969) and Rootha Na Karo(1970).In early seventies, it was Nanda who suggested Rajendra Kumar, co-producer of The Train, to take Rajesh Khanna, as the main lead hero.
She had another hit film in 1965 with Gumnaam, which helped put her in the top league of heroines.[4] With Manoj Kumar, she further worked in Mera Kasoor Kya Hai. She played heroine roles throughout the 1960s but offers dried up in early 70's.She signed with new leading man Rajesh Khanna in the songless suspense thriller Ittefaq (1969) for which she received a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. After Khanna became a super-star, he signed two more films with her: the thriller The Train (1970) and a comedy Joroo Ka Ghulam (1972) which became hits. Jeetendra, too, had some hit films with her like Parivar, Dharti Kahe Pukarke; with Sanjay Khan, she had a hit in Beti.
After a small role in Manoj Kumar's Shor (1972), Nanda did few more films such as Chhalia (1973), Naya Nasha (1974),which flopped and she then stopped. In 1982, she came back with three successful films, all coincidentally playing heroine Padmini Kolhapure's mother in Ahista Ahista, Mazdoor and Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog. Then she permanently retired from acting. She has been close friends with actress Waheeda Rehman, ever since they co-starred in Kaala Bazaar. In 1965, when she was filming Jab Jab Phool Khile, director Suraj Prakash recalled that a very handsome Maharashtrian lieutenant colonel was smitten by Nanda and had asked him to forward his marriage proposal to her mother. In the end, nothing came of it. Nanda's brothers also brought home many suitors for her, but she turned them down.
